Launching a wine club isn’t easy! Licences, inspections, broken pallets of precious wine (no broken bottles, thankfully!), a fiendishly complicated new UK alcohol duty regime to get our heads around, confused importers, confused exporters, and a long, long hunt for a delivery company willing to work with a little startup like us!
But we’re almost there… as is the website! So, we’re pressing on regardless with tastings lined up in York, Leeds and Pocklington (they’re all in the North, for now!).
In this, our first bite-sized Chronicle for curious wine lovers, you’ll find details of where you can sample Sardinian wines at our tastings, and we throw the spotlight on one particular winemaker and his very special vat of Vermentino, buried deep in the heart of Iglesias.
Raise a glass - dates for your diary
2025 is filling up with private tastings for groups and organisations that want to sample wines from the island that winelovers forgot.
But there are four dates in the diary for Pane e Vino in Pocklington and one in York with our new friends at Quirky - a cosy café/bar on Lendal Bridge with views across the river and a crazy sense of interior design.
These tastings are relaxed events for wine explorers who enjoy going off the beaten track. You don’t have to be a Club member to join us, just curious about wine.
We provide tasting notes, but only so you can remember what you’ve drunk! We’re aimed at happy sloshers, not sommeliers, and we encourage lots of conversation about wine, food, traditions, culture, travel … wherever the evening takes us.
Tickets include generous tastings of six wines and a traditional Sardinian sharing platter of cheese and meats with savoury nibbles (veggie options available).
